SEWELL, NJ – The Philadelphia Rebels (23-28-2-1, 49 pts) will host the Maryland Black Bears (38-15-4-0, 80 pts) in the final contest of a two-game series in Hollydell on Saturday night.
Here are five things to know ahead of the final matchup.
Home Stretch:
With just six games left in the regular season, the Rebels will be at home for four of them. Despite a recent long stretch on the road, the Rebels will finish out the majority of their games on home ice.
The Last Punch:
The Rebels and Black Bears have gone back and forth in recent contests.
The last time the Rebels and Black Bears played a two-game series, both teams split by winning a game a piece. The last three matchups before that series, the Rebels took a game and dropped two against the division leaders.
On home ice, the Rebels will look to finish their season against Maryland with a win, who they have played well throughout the year.
Stat Padders:
Outside of the team-leading point scorers in David Deputy and Connor Sedlak, the Rebels have three players who are on the brink of notching 30-point seasons.
Greg Spitznagel (29), Luke deVries (27), and Klaus Jogi (25) have a chance to get to the 30-point mark by the end of the season as the Rebels look for production up and down the lineup on Saturday.
Last Time Out:
In Friday’s game, the Rebels fell 5-2 to the Black Bears. The game was tight through two periods before Maryland pulled away in the third.
Scouting Maryland:
The Black Bears were 7-3-0-0 in their last 10 games entering the weekend, and have a seven point lead over the New Jersey Titans in the East Division standings.
Saturday’s game will begin at 7 p.m. at Hollydell Ice Arena and will have free admission for all fans. The games will also be available on HockeyTV.
