The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights defeated the Philadelphia Rebels 5 – 1 this afternoon in preseason action at the Revolution Ice Centre. The Rebels did not dress any of their returning players from last season.

After a scoreless first period in which goaltender Ryan Keane kept the visitors in the game, the Rebels got on the board first at 7:33 into the second period. After both teams changed goaltenders at the midway point, the Knights tied it on a powerplay goal at 14:33 of the middle stanza.

The Knights entered the final period with a 2 – 1 lead. They would increase their lead with 2:08 into the third.  They would then make it a 4 – 1 game with seven minutes remaining in the game.  The Knights would light the lamp one more time to make it a 5 – 1 game.

The Rebels will play their one and only preseason home game tomorrow night at the Class of 1923 Arena at the University of Pennsylvania against the New Jersey Titans at 7:35pm.
