Comeback falls short as Rebels fall to Titans 6 – 4 in preseason finale

Trailing by a score of 4 – 0 entering the third period, the Rebels came back to make the game close but ended up losing 6 – 4 to the New Jersey Titans in the preseason finale for both teams last night. It was the one and only preseason home game for the two-time defending East Division Champions.

New Jersey would get on the board first with a powerplay goal with 5:13 into the opening period. The visitors would take a 2 – 0 lead just 3:03 minutes into the second on their second. Then just seventeen seconds later the Titans made it 3 – 0 on their third powerplay goal of the evening. After a few fights, the Titans would make it a 4 – 0 with 4:50 into the middle stanza.

Peter Zhong would score the Rebels first goal in the new arena picking up a Jensen Zerban rebound to make a 4 – 1 game at the 13:35 mark of the third period. Zerban would cut the Titans lead in half at 11:38. Then New Jersey would make it 5 – 2 just five seconds later.

Aaron Maguyon would make it a 5 – 3 with 10:21 left in the third. Diarmad DiMurro scored the home team’s fourth goal with nice pass from Zhong with 7:51 remaining. New Jersey would finish the scoring with five minutes left in the game.

The regular season begins on Wednesday, September 20 against the Minnesota Wilderness at the NAHL’s Showcase in Blaine, MN.
