The Aston Rebels today have announced that the team has traded forward Connor Wood to the Odessa Jackalopes for Forward and West Chester, PA native Eric Carreras.
“It has been a very long day as trading Connor Wood was a very difficult decision” stated head coach and general manager Joe Coombs. “I have spent two years with a young man I truly felt was an awesome individual and player. However tough, trades are part of the game and the player we have in Eric Carreras coming in we are ecstatic to receive such a talented player in return. Eric will have every opportunity to succeed here. We have spoken and he knows the door is open. He just needs to grab the opportunity and make the most of it. We expect him to be an integral piece of the puzzle” concluded Coombs.
Carreras played in 37 games for Odessa this year. He was second on the team in goals with 14 and fifth in points with 24. The 5’7”, 150 lbs forward returns home to reunite with former youth hockey teammates Colton McMenamin and Michael Merulla. “I am very excited to come home and play for the Rebels” stated Carreras. “I am thankful for the chance, and I am looking forward to helping the Rebels advance to the Robertson Cup” said Carreras.
Wood, a fan favorite, was known for his grit, feistiness and long blonde hair. The University of Alabama-Huntsville commit played in 30 games this season for the Rebels. He had three goals and four assists.
