BLAINE, MN – After their first defeat of the season, the Philadelphia Rebels (1-1-0-0, 2 pts) take the ice for the third game of the NAHL Showcase on Friday against the Kenai River Brown Bears (1-1-0-0, 2 pts).
In the first two games of the Showcase, Philadelphia was led by goaltender Jakub Krbecek. In two games, Krbecek has stopped 76 of 82 shots he’s faced.
“He’s done his part keeping us in games and battling like crazy,” said head coach Justin Hale.
Hale said he hopes the team can add some more offense on Friday after a 5-1 defeat to Wisconsin on Thursday afternoon. The Rebels first loss came after a 5-2 win on Opening Night over Corpus Christi.
Kenai River stands in the way of Philadelphia’s second win of the season. The Brown Bears defeated Danbury 6-0 in their first game of the Showcase on Wednesday, but fell 5-1 to Amarillo on Thursday.
Forward Hayden Walters has scored three goals over the first two games for Kenai, including two in the opening game against Danbury.
Philadelphia looks for its second win at the showcase at 11:30 a.m. CT/12:30 p.m. ET on Friday. The game can be seen live on HockeyTV.
