BLAINE, MN – The Philadelphia Rebels (1-2-0-0, 2 pts) play their final game of the North American Hockey League Showcase on Saturday afternoon against the Shreveport Mudbugs (1-2-0-0, 2 pts).
After winning the opening game of the Showcase 5-2 over Corpus Chrisi, the Rebels scored just one goal in each of the last two games.
On Friday, Philadelphia trailed by a pair of goals late before David Deputy scored a power-play goal to bring the Rebels within one in the final minutes. The Rebels could not find a tying goal late with goaltender Jack Fialkoff pulled for an extra skater.
Fialkoff made 33 saves in his debut for Philadelphia and continued the strong performance in net for Rebels goaltenders. In the first two games, Jakub Krbecek stopped 76 shots sent toward his net.
Shreveport has had a similar start to the Showcase as Philadelphia, winning its first game and losing two-straight after.
The Mudbugs defeated the Minnesota Wilderness on Day 1, but dropped games to North Iowa and Springfield in the past two days.
On Friday, forward Logan Furstenau scored twice for Shreveport and is tied for the team lead in goals with two. Mudbugs goaltender Tommy Aitken has played two of the first three games and stopped 39 of 41 shots.
Saturday’s game begins at 12 p.m. CT/1 p.m. ET from Blaine, MN as the Rebels finish up the Showcase. The game can be seen on HockeyTV.
