JOHNSTOWN, PA – The Philadelphia Rebels (2-4-0-0, 4 pts) hit the road in the East Division for the first time this season to face the Johnstown Tomahawks (1-4-1-0, 3 pts) on Saturday night.
In the early-season, Philadelphia has been led by its goaltending tandem of Jakub Krbecek and Jack Fialkoff. The two have combined for a .934 save percentage while facing consistent pressure over the first six games.
Like the Rebels, Johnstown’s start to the season has been slow offensively. The Tomahawks score less than two goals per game, but it has not been for a lack of pressure. Johnstown has fired almost 35 shots per game on opposing goaltenders.
However, an inability to convert on those shots has exacerbated Johnstown’s defensive worries. The team has not had the same performance as Philadelphia from its goaltenders. Tomahawks netminders have combined for an .897 save percentage and have allowed over three goals per game.
Offensively, Philadelphia’s success will come from putting more pressure on the Johnstown net. The Rebels have averaged just 22.8 shots per game so far this season.
Philadelphia’s first divisional road game will begin at 7 p.m. in Johnstown on Saturday night. The game can be seen on HockeyTV with the Rebels Pre Game Show beginning at 6:45.
