Rebels Comeback Falls Just Short in Johnstown

JOHNSTOWN, PA – The Philadelphia Rebels (3-7-0-0, 6 pts) fell 2-1 to the Johnstown Tomahawks (2-4-2-0, 6 pts) on Friday night in Johnstown, PA.

Philadelphia trailed 2-0, but drew a penalty around the halfway point of the third period. On the power play, David Deputy zipped a shot into the back of the net from the top of the slot and brought the Rebels within a goal in the final 10 minutes of play.

Deputy’s third of the season was assisted by Tyler Stern (1) and Connor Sedlak (2).

The Rebels allowed an early goal, but locked down from the end of the first period through the second frame.

Goaltender Jakub Krbecek ended the night with 23 saves on 25 shots faced, including 14 saves in the third period.

Philadelphia’s penalty kill was once again a strong-point, killing off four of five Johnstown power plays in the game. Entering the weekend, the Rebels led the league with a 94.1% penalty kill.

Deputy’s late goal extended his team leading point total to eight in 10 games this season. The forward has points in four of his last five games and seven of 10 overall.
