ATTLEBORO, MA – The Philadelphia Rebels (18-20-1-1, 38 pts) defeated the Northeast Generals (22-15-4-1, 49 pts) 4-2 to kickoff the two-game road series on Thursday afternoon.
David Deputy led the way with two goals to bring the Rebels back from a 2-0 deficit almost halfway through regulation.
After holding off the Generals’ offense for the majority of the first period, Northeast’s Jacob Wilson got the Generals on the board first with a short-handed goal, and Paul Minnehan extended their lead just 40 seconds later.
Despite not scoring in the first, the Rebels had multiple high-danger chances in the offensive zone during the opening period.
The Rebels offense opened up in the second period, as Luke deVries got the Rebels on the board with a power-play goal at the ten minute mark. Just a minute and a half later, David Deputy notched his 14th goal of the season to tie the game at 2-2.
Deputy kept it rolling in the third, scoring his second goal of the day and giving the Rebels their first lead halfway through the period. Deputy now has points in five of his last six games with four goals and two assists.
With less than five minutes to play in the third period, the Generals’ Jake LaRusso was called for a five-minute major on a cross-checking penalty.
With the Generals net empty, Max Hamstad closed the door on the Generals and extended the Rebels lead to 4-2.
The Rebels are now 10-7-1-0 on the road, and will play the next four of five games on the road.
The series will wrap up on Friday night at 7 p.m. in Attleboro.
