SEWELL, NJ – The Philadelphia Rebels have tendered 2005 forward Ryan Bunting, the second hometown player to tender with the team in as many weeks (Billy Sheridan).
Bunting started playing hockey at Hollydell, playing Tier 1 for his father, Tom’s, Philadelphia Hockey Club teams.
The forward has played for Bishop Kearney Selects for the last two seasons, winning a National Championship at the end of the 2021-22 season.
Bunting had 20 goals and 47 assists in 67 games in the championship campaign, recording a point-per-game over the season.
“It’s awesome to have Ryan in the fold for next year,” said Rebels Head Coach Justin Hale. “Ryan is having a very productive season at the U18 level and has shown a knack for scoring at all levels. He also brings a solid compete-level with his game.”
Bunting joins Billy Sheridan as players who have recently tendered with the Rebels for next season after growing up in Hollydell Ice Arena.
“Ryan signing this tender is another example of a high-level player from Hollydell and our youth program who will have the ability to stay at home and continue the development process,” Hale said.
So far this season with Bishop Kearney, Bunting has 75 points on 28 goals and 47 assists in 70 games at the U18 level.
Bunting made his Rebels debut earlier this season as an affiliate player, skating in one game for Philadelphia.
With his tender, Bunting will have the opportunity to spend the entire season in the NAHL next year.
