The Rebels took part in their first NAHL draft today selecting 11 players. “I’m really excited to part of our inaugural draft” stated Head Coach Joe Coombs. “We went into the draft seeking players who had a good hockey sense, ability to compete and possessed the willingness to win” added Coombs. “This is a very good and more mature league so we were seeking impact players who can compete and we feel like we accomplished that” concluded Coombs.
The following is a recap of the Rebels draft.
Round 1 – Kristofers Bindulis. A 1995 defenseman from the Des Moines Buccaneers of the USHL. He is a very steady, stay at home defenseman who brings reliability.
Round 2 – Andrew Zerban. 1996 forward from the Portage Terriers of the MJHL. He is a gifted goal scorer who is expected to be a go-to player.
Round 4 – Gvido Jansons. A 1997 defenseman from Selects Hockey Academy of the USPHL. He is a good size, solid defender who will make an impact on the team.
Round 6 – Trevor Micucci. 1997 goalie from the Philadelphia Little Flyers of the EHL. He was the league’s goaltender of the year who possesses a strong ability, character and work ethic.
Round 7 – Kevin (Chevy) Ford. A 1997 from Waunakee High School. He is hard nose and competitive who has tenacity to his game and can make the plays.
Round 8 – Victor Tracy. 1996 forward from Northwood School. He is a big, strong forward who can score goals.
Round 9 – Mitch Ossowski. A 1997 forward from Detroit Catholic Central. He is good two way center who adds solid depth up the middle.
Round 10 – Marshall Moise. 1997 forward from Belle Tire U18. He is a top 6 forward who makes plays and a good up and down winger.
Round 11 – Connor Hamonic. A 1996 defenseman from the Winkler Flyers of the MJHL. A big, strong defenseman with a big shot from the point. Good solid puck mover who is hard to play against.
Round 12 – Carter Woolley. 1997 forward from the Oakland Grizzlies U18. Provides depth at forward who is very hard working with a good hockey sense.
Round 13 – Rob Roche. A 1997 defenseman from the Walpole Express of the EHL. Offensive oriented defenseman who was by the Tri-City Storm of the USHL.
