The Rebels are pleased to announce that forward Ryan Cusin has committed to play NCAA Division III Ice Hockey for the University of Massachusetts Boston Beacons, who play in the New England Hockey Conference (NEHC). His commitment begins in the fall of 2016.
After being acquired in a trade early in the year, Cusin, 21, was second on the team in scoring during the regular season. In 48 games, he had 50 points (14 goals and 36 assists). He led the team in scoring during the recently concluded playoffs with nine points (5 goals and 4 assists). The 5’7”, 178lb Westland, MI native played in the NAHL’s Top Propsects Tournament back in January where he had two points in two games (one goal and an assist). He was selected to the NAHL’s All-East Division team, and he was co-award winner for the Rebels forward of the year.
“I’m really excited to further my hockey career and education at UMass Boston” stated Cusin. “I just want to say thank you to my family, coaches, teammates and friends for helping me along the way” concluded Cusin.
“I am glad for Ryan” said Rebels head coach Joe Coombs. “He was a big component to our success this year, and I know he will do well at UMass Boston” stated Coombs.
The University of Massachusetts Boston finished with a 23-5-3 record this past season and advanced to the NCAA Division III semi-finals.
