Ryan Vaites scored a powerplay goal with 1:46 remaining in overtime to give the visiting Rebels a 5 – 4 win over Danbury to complete the weekend sweep. It was his second goal of the game. Charles Panchisin, Jared Coccimiglio and Otto Polakovs also scored in regulation.
It was the Rebels third straight victory, their longest winning streak of the season.
Vaites opened the scoring at 1:26 into the game on assists from Brock Jones and Charles Panchisin. It was Vaites first goal of the season.
Danbury tied it at one with 3:18 remaining in the first on Wyatt Stefan’s first goal of the game.
The Rebels regained the lead just 2:22 into the middle stanza on Polakovs eleventh goal of the season assisted by Luke Janviriya and Jett Otwell – both earning their first point as a Rebel.
The hat tricks scored two unanswered goals to take a 3 – 2 lead. Brock Behrend’s third goal of the season tied the contest at two with 9:03 left in the second. Stefan scored his second of the game with 3:22 left in the middle stanza to give Danbury the lead.
Panchisin’s team high seventeenth goal of the season tied the game at three just fifty-nine seconds into the third, and twenty-three seconds later Coccimiglio’ fourteenth goal of the season gave the Rebels a 4 – 3 lead.
Danbury’s Grant Dietz scored his fifteenth goal of the season with 5:25 left in regulation to tie the game at four and send it into overtime for the second straight night.
In the extra period, Dietz was called for interference to give the man advantage. With two seconds left on the powerplay, Vaites second goal of the game gave the Rebels the 5 – 4 win.
Jakub Krbecek stopped 37 of 41 shots while Danbury’s Thomas Kiesewetter turned aside 24 of 29. Click HERE for the complete box score.
