Bobcats score four unanswered goals to down Rebels 4 – 2

Sep 27, 2024

Brayton Frick scored early to give the Rebels a 1 – 0 lead but then Bismarck scored four unanswered goals en route to a 4 – 2 win over Philadelphia. Beau Lane was strong between the pipes in his first game in a Rebels jersey.

The Rebels are currently 0 – 2 in the Showcase.

Frick opened the scoring just 2:05 into the game. Linas Dedinas picked up the loose puck at the top of his own zone and skated through center ice and into the Bobcats end. As Dedinas skated behind and around the Bismarck net, he sent a pass back to Kalib Capecci at the near side point. Capecci took a shot that Frick redirected past Bobcats netminder Tomas Anderson for Frick’s fourth goal of the season.

The Bobcats then scored four unanswered goals but it was the first two that determined the game. Down by one, Bismarck scored two goals in 26 seconds apart beginning at 5:50 into the first.

As Bismarck’s Wyatt Sypniewski gained the line along the near side boards, he immediately passed the biscuit to Kai Dunits on his right. As Dunits skated to the slot, he sent a pass to Matthew Rafalski on Dunits right, and Rafalski took a wrist shot from the far side faceoff dot that beat Lane short side to even the contest.

Twenty-six seconds later, Bismarck’s Keanu Krenn gave the Bobcats the lead for good. As Sypniewski gained the offensive zone line along the near side boards, he skated towards the end wall but then turned and made a centering pass out front to Krenn who redirected the puck past Lane.

After a scoreless second period, Bismarck’s Brendan Ruskowski scored an empty net goal with 1:12 left in the game to make it 3 – 1. Julian Beaumont then scored twenty-eight seconds later to give Bismarck a 4 – 1 lead. Thomas Neu lit the lamp with ten seconds left in the game to make it 4 – 2 and close out the scoring.

Lane stopped 18 of 21 shots while Anderson turned aside 27 of 29. Click HERE for the complete box score. The Rebels will play their final game of the Showcase tomorrow at 12:45PM ET against the New Mexico Ice Wolves.
