BLAINE, Minn. — Ben Varsa stopped all 39 shots he faced as the Philadelphia Rebels defeated the Ogden Mustangs 5-0 Wednesday afternoon at NSC Super Rink 3 in their opening game of the 2026 NAHL Showcase.
The victory marked Philadelphia’s third consecutive win and improved its record to 3-2-0-0. Five different Rebels found the back of the net, including Nick Beam, who scored his first NAHL goal.
Philadelphia opened the scoring midway through the first period when Paxton Couture found the back of the net to give the Rebels a 1-0 lead.
Less than two minutes later, Emmet McClaine doubled Philadelphia’s advantage with a power-play goal. Oscar Djurberg added to the lead just over two minutes later, blasting a wrist shot into the net for his second goal of the season to give the Rebels a 3-0 advantage heading into the first intermission.
Ogden continued to pressure Philadelphia throughout the second period, firing 17 shots on goal. Varsa turned aside every opportunity to preserve the Rebels’ three-goal lead heading into the final 20 minutes.
Beam extended Philadelphia’s lead to 4-0 just over seven minutes into the third period, scoring his first NAHL goal on an odd-man rush. Just 24 seconds later, Dylan Moran scored his second goal of the season to complete the 5-0 victory.
Moran and Djurberg each finished with a goal and an assist, while Gavin Callahan, Timmy Donohue and Jake Schultz also recorded assists.
Varsa faced 30 shots through the first two periods and made nine additional saves in the third to complete his 39-save shutout.
The victory extended Philadelphia’s winning streak to three games following its home-and-home sweep of the New Jersey Titans last weekend.
The Rebels return to action Thursday against the Fairbanks Ice Dogs in their second game of the NAHL Showcase.
