Philadelphia Rebels goaltender Ben Varsa has been named the NAHL East Division Second Star of the Week following a strong performance at the 2026 NAHL Showcase in Blaine, Minnesota.
Varsa recorded his first NAHL shutout Wednesday in the Rebels’ 5-0 victory over the Ogden Mustangs. He turned aside all 39 shots he faced as Philadelphia opened the showcase with a win.
The Rebels gave Varsa an early cushion with three first-period goals before the goaltender helped keep Ogden off the board throughout the afternoon. The Mustangs generated 30 shots over the first two periods, but Varsa kept Philadelphia in control before the Rebels added two more goals in the third.
Varsa returned to the crease Friday against the Watertown Shamrocks, entering the game in relief and posting another scoreless appearance to close out the showcase.
The weekly honor is Varsa’s first of the 2026-27 season.
