Weekend Preview: 1/13 – 1/14; Rebels play two home games against Kenai River Brown Bears

The Midwest Division’s Kenai River Brown Bears visit IceWorks to play two against the Rebels this weekend. This will be the Rebels last two home games before they embark on a seven game road trip which includes four games in Alaska, two against New Jersey and one against Wilkes-Barre. The Rebels will return home on February 10 to face the Johnstown Tomahawks.

Last year the Rebels swept Kenai in the four games they played winning by the scores of 5 – 3, 7 – 2, 4 – 1 and 3 – 0.

Brown Bears Overview
The Brown Bears visit IceWorks this weekend which will conclude their East Coast road trip before heading back to Kenai on Sunday to prepare for next weekend’s games against the Rebels.  The Brown Bears possess an 8-23-2 record for 18 points which is last in the Midwest Division.  Kenai has scored 71 goals on the season (23rd in the league) and they have allowed 120 (20th most in the league). The Brown Bears have a 4 – 6 record during their last ten games, and they are coming off of a 3 – 1 road loss to the Johnstown Tomahawks.

Kenai is led by Jonathan Marzec’s 23 points (6 goals and 17 assists). Luke Radetic has 21 points (12 goals and 9 assists) while Anthony Tzveyn has 16 points (10 goals and 6 assists). Radetic leads the team with twelve goals. Marzec has two game winning goals while Connor Fedorek has the best plus/minus ratio with a +1. Jonas Warmen leads the team with 99 penalty minutes.

The Brown Bears are twelfth in the league on the power play scoring on 19.4% of their chances while they rank 20th in the league on the penalty kill preventing the opposition from scoring 77.8% of the time.

Brown Bears defenseman Jordin Holmes is from Willow Grove, PA. Holmes played his midget hockey for Team Comcast . He has four points in 32 games.

Rebels Overview
The Rebels enter the weekend with a 27-5-1 record for 55 points. Their 27 wins are most in the NAHL. They lead the East Division by seven points over second place Johnstown.  They have won seven of their last 10 games. The Rebels have won four games in a row, winning their last game 2 – 0 over the New Jersey Titans last night. It was Mareks Mitens ninth shutout of the season.

The Rebels have scored 123 goals on the season (second highest in the league) and they have allowed 53 (least amount allowed in the league).

Andrew Bellant is the team’s top point producer with 33 (18 goals and 15 assists). He is followed by Gianluca Esteves’ 30 points (11 goals and 19 assists) and Brennan Kapcheck (12 goals and 17 assists) and Dom Garcia’s (9 goals and 20 assists) 29 points. Bellant leads the team with 18 goals and penalty minutes (103). Bellant, Kapcheck and Evgeny Yakovlev each have four game winning goals. Kapcheck has the highest plus/minus percentage of +27.
