Aviators Shut Out Rebels 2–0 in Elmira

ELMIRA, N.Y. — The Elmira Aviators scored two goals in the second period and defeated the Philadelphia Rebels 2–0 on Sunday.

After a scoreless opening period, Elmira broke through early in the second when Ben Taylor opened the scoring. Later in the period, Evan Dantas added another goal to extend the lead to 2–0.

The Aviators controlled much of the play, outshooting the Rebels 37–23. Goaltender Jake Shingles stopped all 23 shots he faced to record the shutout.

For Philadelphia, goaltender Ilja Nikitins made 35 saves on 37 shots in the loss. Elmira finished 1-for-3 on the power play, while Philadelphia went 0-for-1 with the man advantage.

The loss dropped the Rebels to 19-25-2-6 on the season as they return to action next Friday at home against the Maryland Black Bears. Puck drop is set for 7:30 p.m.
