The Philadelphia Rebels are proud to announce that defenseman Drew Belleson has committed to the University of Wisconsin–River Falls to continue his academic and hockey career.
A native of Dayton, Minnesota, Belleson has been a steady presence on the Rebels’ blue line over the past three seasons. The 6-foot-1, right-shot defenseman appeared in 44 games during the 2025-26 campaign, recording eight points while providing reliable defensive play and physicality.
“I’m very excited and grateful for this opportunity to further my education and play college hockey at Wisconsin River Falls,” Belleson said. “I want to thank my parents, family, coaches, teammates, and trainers throughout all my life who have helped and supported me. Super pumped and can’t wait to get it started at River Falls!”
Belleson joined Philadelphia during the 2023-24 season and quickly developed into a dependable presence on the back end. In 2024-25, he appeared in 58 games, totaling 11 points. Belleson earned the trust of the coaching staff in all situations throughout his tenure with the organization.
“It’s been awesome to work alongside Drew these past three seasons,” Rebels head coach and general manager Justin Hale said. “He is a guy well respected by his teammates and peers and goes about his business the right way. I’m excited to continue following his journey in college.”
Before his time in the NAHL, Belleson developed in Minnesota, playing for Champlin Park High School, where he served as captain and recorded 24 points in his senior season.
The veteran defenseman becomes the latest Rebel to advance to the collegiate level, continuing the organization’s track record of developing players for the next stage.
Belleson will look to make an immediate impact as he transitions to the college ranks at the University of Wisconsin–River Falls.
