The North American Hockey League announced its Divisional Stars of the Week for week ending January 15th and Rebels forward Drew Blackmun was named the East Division’s second star of the week while defenseman Gvido Jansons was named honorable mentioned.
Blackmun had three points in the Rebels weekend sweep over the Kenai River Brown Bears. He had an assist on Jansons’ game winning goal in Friday night’s game and he had a goal and an assist in Saturday night’s game. The Rebels’ assistant captain is sixth on the team in total points with 28 (11 goals and 17 assists). He is fifth on the team with a +23 +/- ratio.
Jansons, who just returned from playing for Latvia in the World Junior Championships, had a natural hat trick in Friday night’s win against the Brown Bears. It was his first hat trick as a Rebel. The Arizona State University commit is fourth on the team with 30 total points (13 goals and 17 assists). He is ranked third overall in the league among defense in total points.
