Casper Scores Game-Winner in Season Debut

Dec 2, 2022

SEWELL, NJ- The Philadelphia Rebels (8-15-0-1, 17 pts) deployed a two-goal second period to come from behind and take down the Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks (2-22-1-1, 5 pts) 4-2 on Friday night.

With under two minutes to go in the second, Carter Casper found the back of the net in his season debut. His first of the season was the go-ahead goal to give the Rebels a 3-2 they would  never surrender. Max Hamstad and David Deputy both recorded assists on the goal.

It was the second time in as many weeks the Rebels used a strong second period to come back and win a game after doing the same last Friday night against Johnstown. This Friday, the Rebels had to come back after scoring the first goal of the game, but falling behind 2-1 after the first period.

Klaus Jogi (7) started the second period with his second goal of the game to knot the score at 2-2 off an assist from Luke deVries and Jacob Margarit. After Jogi’s goal to tie Connor Sedlak and Dom Foglia for the team lead, Casper was on the doorstep to put home the rebound and put the Rebels in front with 1:18 left in the period.

Besides an empty netter by Oliver Band (4), the third period did not amount to any other scoring. After giving up two goals in the first period Jakub Krebecek locked down the net for the remainder of the game, not giving up another goal. He finished the game stopping 22 of 24 shots.

Philadelphia moves to 3-0 against Danbury this season and will look to make it 4-0 as they go for the series sweep tomorrow night.

Saturday’s game will be at 7:30 p.m. at Hollydell Ice Arena, admission is free for all fans, and the contest can be seen live on HockeyTV.
