SEWELL, N.J. — Philadelphia Rebels forward Paxton Couture earned North American Hockey League (NAHL) East Division First Star of the Week honors after a four-point performance that helped the Rebels extend their winning streak to three games.
Couture, a 17-year-old native of Providence, Rhode Island, recorded three goals and an assist in three games last week, including a game-winning overtime goal against the Danbury Hat Tricks and his first career multi-goal game against the Elmira Aviators.
The 5-foot-11 forward has been a consistent offensive contributor for Philadelphia, recording eight points (three goals, five assists) over his last five games.
Couture began the week Wednesday with a goal and an assist in Philadelphia’s 3-2 overtime victory over Danbury. He picked up an assist on Oscar Djurberg’s first-period goal before delivering the game-winner in overtime.
On the winning play, Dylan Moran carried the puck down the far wing before finding Couture streaking through the slot. Couture fired the puck past the Danbury goaltender to secure the victory and record his third consecutive multi-point performance.
“It was really fun. We played a good game. Got the opportunity in overtime, and D-Mo (Dylan Moran) set me up with a nice play. Just had to bury it,” Couture said following Wednesday’s victory.
Couture continued his offensive production Saturday, scoring twice in the Rebels’ 3-2 victory over Elmira at Hollydell Ice Arena.
He opened the scoring just over two minutes into the first period, converting a power-play opportunity off a pass from Mikey Conlon. Couture went to his backhand and slid the puck past Elmira goaltender JD Low to give Philadelphia an early 1-0 lead.
Couture added his second goal at the 14:45 mark of the third period, tapping home a shot from defenseman Mike Leuthold to give Philadelphia a 2-1 lead. The two-goal performance marked the first multi-goal game of his junior hockey career.
The recognition marks Couture’s first East Division Star of the Week honor of the season and the third weekly award earned by a Rebels player during the 2026-27 campaign. Goaltender Ben Varsa and defenseman Mikey Conlon previously received East Division Second Star of the Week honors.
“We’re really proud of Paxton and the work he continues to put in every day,” Rebels head coach Justin Hale said. “His performance this past week is a reflection of his commitment to daily improvement. He’s been a big part of our team’s success, and it’s great to see him recognized for his efforts. He’s earned this honor.”
The Rebels return to action Friday, Oct. 30, when they host the New Hampshire Mountain Kings at Hollydell Ice Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
