Deprez Makes NCAA Commitment to Marian University

Apr 14, 2016

The Rebels are pleased to announce that assistant captain and forward Chris Deprez has committed to play NCAA Division III Ice Hockey for the Marian University Sabres, who play in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC). His commitment begins in the fall of 2016.

Deprez, 20, has twelve points on the season (three goals and nine assists). He is, however, a valuable member of the team’s very successful penalty kill unit. “Big Daddy,” as Deprez is affectionately known as, is the undisputed team leader and perfect role model for younger players. He is extremely team oriented and is usually the first player to sign up for community appearances. Deprez’s goal with eighteen seconds left in the game lifted the Rebels to a 3 – 2 victory over the visiting New Jersey Titans back on November 14. The left-handed shooting forward is from Sterling Heights, MI.

“I would like to thank all of my teammates and coaches throughout the years who have helped me get to this point” stated Deprez. “I also am very fortunate to have an amazing family who has always supported me and has made many sacrifices for me throughout the years, without them none of this would be possible. I am looking forward to continue to grow as a player on and off the ice at Marian University” concluded Deprez.

“I couldn’t be happier for Chris” said Rebels head coach Joe Coombs. “He has been a solid part of our organization for two years. He is a relentless worker. Marian is getting a great person, leader and player. He will be a great fit for them” stated Coombs.

Marian University is located in Fond du Lac, WI. The Sabres are a charter member of the NACC which was formed in 2006.
