SEWELL, N.J. — The Philadelphia Rebels closed out their regular-season home schedule Tuesday with a 6-1 loss to the Elmira Aviators.
Elmira jumped out to a four-goal lead in the first period, with scores from Cody Powels, Evan Dantas, Powels again and Jake Baratta.
Philadelphia got on the board later in the period when Ryan Bunting converted a power-play opportunity, but the Rebels could not mount a comeback.
Elmira added two more goals in the third period as Baratta netted his second and a late marker from Corson Maguire to seal the 6-1 victory. Aiden McKenna made 25 saves for the Aviators, while Ilja Nikitins stopped 20 shots for Philadelphia.
Philadelphia went 1-for-4 on the power play, while Elmira was 0-for-2. The game featured a physical edge, as tensions ran high in the Rebels’ final home outing of the season.
The loss extends the Rebels’ skid to six games and closes out their home schedule with a disappointing result.
Philadelphia now turns its focus to the final two regular-season games on the road in Johnstown. Elmira, now 21-27-5-4, will look to carry its dominant performance into the final matchups of the year against Rochester.
