Five Things: Rebels Host Danbury to Open March

Mar 3, 2023

SEWELL, NJ – The Philadelphia Rebels (20-23-1-1, 42 pts) host the Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks (2-39-5-2, 11 pts) to open the month of March this weekend.

Here are five things to know ahead of the matchup:

1. Playing Tricks

The Rebels are 6-0 against Danbury this season, out-scoring the Jr. Hat Tricks 24-10 in those games.

The last meeting between the teams came in Danbury on Jan. 10. The Rebels came home with a 5-2 victory.

Philadelphia and Danbury last met in Hollydell Ice Arena in early-December, with the Rebels sweeping the series via a 4-2 win and a 4-3 shootout win.

2. Staying Hot

David Deputy and Connor Sedlak remain atop the Rebels scoring charts with 15 games left in the season.

Sedlak assisted on Max Marquette’s game-winning goal on Tuesday before scoring an empty-netter to seal the win.

Deputy recorded the lone goal in a 1-0 win last Friday at Maryland.

Both players have 16 goals and 19 assists to lead the team with 35 points.

3. Shutting it Down

Jakub Krbecek has a pair of shutouts in his last three starts. Krbecek logged his first-career North American Hockey League shutout on Friday at Maryland, making 50 saves to beat the Black Bears.

Krbecek dazzled again on Tuesday, stopping all 45 shots he faced to blank the New Jersey Titans.

The Rebels netminder now has a .928 save percentage, ranking third in the NAHL. Krbecek has started 16-straight contests for Philadelphia.

4. Last Time Out

On Tuesday, the Rebels shut down one of the league’s hottest teams. Philadelphia sank the New Jersey Titans 3-0 on the road for their fifth win against the Titans this season.

The Rebels are responsible for five of New Jersey’s six losses since late October.

5. Scouting the Jr. Hat Tricks

Danbury is led by Andrew Eberling’s 21 points this season. The Jr. Hat Tricks’ leading goal-scorer is Wyatt Stefan with 10 tallies.

Stefan is the son of Jr. Hat Tricks newly-minted head coach, Patrik Stefan.

Friday’s game begins at 8, while Saturday’s puck-drop is scheduled for 7:30.

Admission is FREE for both contests and they can be seen on HockeyTV.
