The North American Hockey League has announced its Divisional Star of the Week for week ending March 20 and Rebels forward Dom Garcia was named star of the week while goaltender Darion Hanson was named honorable mentioned.
Garcia was instrumental in this past weekend’s sweep of the Johnstown Tomahawks. He had a goal in Friday night’s 3 – 2 win, and he had the first two goals of the Rebels 3 – 2 victory in Saturday night’s game. The 5’11”/192 native from Las Vegas, NV has a total of 24 points in 45 games. “Dom has come so far as a player this year. I could not be more proud and excited for his future both as a Rebel and in NCAA Division I hockey. Where ever he commits to is getting a great player, but even better person and leader,” said Rebels head coach Joe Coombs.
Garcia becomes the 15 Rebel to receive either weekly or monthly recognition from the league.
This is the second straight week that Darion Hanson received league recognition as he was named honorable mentioned. Hanson, who has played in six consecutive games, had a 2.00 goals against average and a .906 save percentage this past weekend.
