Mar 12, 2018

The North American Hockey League announced its Bauer Divisional Stars of the Week for week ending March 11 and Rebels goaltender Ryan Keane was named the East Division’s star of the week while forward Jensen Zerban was named honorable mention.

Keane had a 2 – 0 record with both wins as a 3 – 0 shutout over the visiting Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights. He faced a total of 38 shots. They were Keane’s second and third shutouts on the season. “Ryan had not played in the last six games and for him to play the way he did was fantastic” stated Rebels head coach Joe Coombs. “He made some big stops against Grade A opportunities early in the game on Friday night when we really needed it,” conclude Coombs.

It was the second time in team history that a Rebels goaltender recorded consecutive shutouts in the same weekend.

Keane is second in the league in goals against average with 1.74% and fourth in the league in save percentage with .930. This is the second time Keane was named East Division player of week. He earned the same award back on December 17. He also was the NAHL’s goalie of the month for October and was named honorable mention for November, December and January.

Zerban had three points (all assists) this past weekend. He had a point in Friday night’s game in two in Saturday night’s contest. The Air Force Academy commit is fourth on the team in total points with 35 (16 goals and 19 assists). This is the first time this season Zerban has received league recognition for a weekly award. He was honorable mention for his position for September and October.
