SEWELL, NJ – The Philadelphia Rebels (7-13-0-1, 15 pts) kicked off their weekend series against the Johnstown Tomahawks (8-10-3-0, 19 pts) Friday evening with a 5-3 win in front of a packed crowd at Hollydell Ice Arena.

Late in the second period, the Rebels trailed 2-1 when Max Marquette scored his third of the season on a breakaway to tie the game at two with 2:54 left in the frame. Marquette, back on the ice 1:07 later, rifled a one-timer past Johnstown net-minder Adam Johnson to put the Rebels on top 3-2.

Just 1:25 after Marquette’s second of the night, Klaus Jogi scored on his own rebound for his fourth of the season. Philadelphia scored three times in 92 seconds to take a two-goal lead into the third.

The second period onslaught was the second Rebels comeback of the game. The first came from the stick of Luke deVries (2), who tied the game at one late in the first period. Connor Sedlak and Josh Player, making his debut after getting called up Friday, both recorded an assist on the goal.

Player later capped off his North American Hockey League debut with the game-sealing goal to put the Rebels up 5-3 late in the third.

Philadelphia’s third consecutive win came after the barrage late in the second and a strong third period from goaltender Jakub Krbecek. He made 13 of his 22 saves in the final period to keep the Rebels in front.

The Rebels will look to make it four in a row as they host Johnstown again on Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. at Hollydell. The game can also be seen live on HockeyTV.
