The North American Hockey League announced its Bauer Divisional Stars of the Week for week ending January 7 and Rebels defenseman Carson Moniz was selected the East Division’s Stars of the Week while forward Ryan Patrick was named honorable mention.
Moniz was instrumental in the Rebels earning five points out of six this past weekend against the Northeast Generals. He had a total of four points (2 goals and 2 assists). His two goals came in Saturday night’s 4 – 3 win including the game winner with 2:03 left in overtime.
“Carson fought the injury bug in the first half of the season” stated Rebels head coach Joe Coombs. “He has played very well of late and we are expecting even more from him in the second half of the season” concluded Coombs.
Moniz has nine points on the season (4 goals and 5 assists). He is tied for the best +/- percentage on the team with a +10.
This is the first time Moniz has received any weekly and/or monthly recognition from the league.
Like Moniz, Patrick had four points this past weekend (3 goals and 1 assist). The team captain had a goal in Thursday night’s loss but his two goals in Friday night’s game helped lead the Rebels to a 5 – 1 victory.
Although Patrick is fifth on the team in total points with seventeen (10 goals and 7 assists), he is second on the team with ten goals.
Patrick was named honorable mention for East Division Star of the Week for week ending November 19.
