DANBURY, CT – Saturday night, the Philadelphia Rebels (6-13-0-1, 13 pts) wrapped up their weekend series with the Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks (2-19-1-1, 5 pts) with a 7-1 victory.
Coming off a 2-1 overtime win on Friday night, the Rebels earned the sweep by getting another win. The sweep was the Rebels’ first of the season, coming on the road. It was also the first time the Rebels won back-to-back games this season.
The Rebels launched an all-out attack on the Hat Tricks in the first period, putting up four goals and sending Danbury’s goalie to the bench during the first intermission. Philadelphia’s goal scorers were Max Marquette, Tyler Stern, David Deputy, and Dominic Foglia. Marquette and Stern each scored their second goal of the season. Deputy added to his team-leading 14 points. Foglia, who was just acquired by Philadelphia last week, scored in his second game with the team and fourth of the season.
As good as the offense was early, Jakub Krbecek was just as good when he needed to be. It took Danbury 37 minutes and four power plays to finally put one past him when the Hat Tricks made it 4-1 with just over two minutes left to play in the second period. When it was all said and done, Krbecek had stopped 31 of 32 shots.
Connor Sedlak scored an empty-net goal for the Rebels. Shortly after, Oliver Band got in on the party, scoring his third goal of the year and the sixth of the game for the Rebels. Dylan Blue added the seventh and final Rebels’ goal from the blue line, capping off the offensive barrage.
Philadelphia returns home to face the Johnstown Tomahawks for a three-game series beginning Friday night and ending Sunday afternoon.
