Panchisin, Crudale lead Rebels to 1 – 0 Shootout win over Black Bears

Dec 22, 2024

Charles Panchisin scored the lone goal in the skills competition, and the only goal of the game to lead the Rebels to a 1 – 0 shootout win over the visiting Maryland Black Bears to split the weekend series between the teams. Owen Crudale stopped all 38 shots he faced to record the Rebels first shutout of the season and as well as Crudale’s first as a Rebel.

The win snapped the Rebels three-game losing streak.

The tie game also brought a conundrum since it was the Rebels teddy bear toss. The whole premise was for the fans to through the bears onto the when the Rebels scored their first goal. Well, they didn’t. No one did until Panchisin did in the shootout. So, the over 400 fans braved it out and waited.

The fans also saw a very good game from Maryland’s Ryan Denes and Crudale. Each team has their chances during regulation and in overtime but each goalie had to make several key saves to keep the other team off the board.

After overtime had ended, Crudale stopped all 38 shots while Denes turned aside 39 forcing the shootout in which Panchisin was the only won to put the puck in the net. Click HERE for a complete box score.

The Rebels will be off next weekend due to the break, They return on December 29 and then will travel to Lewiston, ME the day after New Year’s to begin the second half of the schedule starting on January 3 and 4 for a series against the Nordiques.
