The Rebels are pleased to announce that forward Otto Polakovs has been selected to play for his native Lativa in the upcoming U20 World Junior Championship at the end of this month. The final roster will be announced on Monday, December 25th.

“I’m thrilled to be given this opportunity to play for my country” said Polakovs. “This will be a great chance to play international hockey, and I’m looking forward to it” ended Polakovs.

The 5’9, 170 lb native of Riga, Lativa is tied for most goals scored this season with nine for the Rebels.

“I’m pumped for Otto” said Rebels head coach and general manager Justin Hale. “It is a well-deserved honor for him to get the opportunity to represent and play for his country” said Hale.

Latvia’s tournament begins on Tuesday, December 26th, at 1:30pm Eastern Time against host country Sweden.   Lativa also will be playing Canada, Finland and Germany in the preliminary round and will probably need two wins to advance to the quarterfinal round.
