SEWELL, N.J. — The Philadelphia Rebels extended their winning streak to four games Friday night, defeating the New Hampshire Mountain Kings, 5-0, at Hollydell Ice Arena behind a 28-save shutout from goaltender Ben Varsa.

Justin Vlassis led the offensive attack with two goals, while Cam Wilson, Dylan Moran and Toren Fron each found the back of the net. Captain Broxton Ingle added two assists as Philadelphia improved to 10-7-1-0 on the season.

Following a scoreless opening period, the Rebels broke through just 90 seconds into the second when Vlassis redirected a shot from Oscar Djurberg in the slot to give Philadelphia a 1-0 lead.

Midway through the period, Mikey Conlon spun around a New Hampshire defender before finding Wilson, who fired home a power-play goal for his fourth tally of the season to double the Rebels’ advantage.

Philadelphia continued to build its lead in the third period, beginning with a shorthanded goal from Moran less than five minutes into the frame. The forward stole the puck from a New Hampshire skater before burying a forehand shot for his team-leading seventh goal of the season.

With 3:29 remaining in regulation, the Rebels struck shorthanded once again. After Ingle made a strong move toward the net, the puck found Vlassis, who finished the play for his second goal of the night to extend Philadelphia’s lead to 4-0.

Fron capped off the scoring in the final minute, tapping home a loose puck in front of the net for his first career North American Hockey League goal.

Varsa was perfect between the pipes, stopping all 28 shots he faced to earn first-star honors and his second shutout of the campaign.

The Rebels outshot New Hampshire, 39-28, including a 30-19 advantage over the final two periods. Philadelphia finished 1-for-8 on the power play while successfully killing all four Mountain Kings opportunities.

New Hampshire goaltender Niklas Crift made 34 saves in the loss.

The victory marked Philadelphia’s fourth consecutive win and its second shutout of the season.
