BLAINE, MN- The Philadelphia Rebels (1-0-0-0, 2 pts) will play their second game of the NAHL Showcase Thursday at 3:30 p.m. EST against the Wisconsin Windigo (0-1-0-0, 0 pts).
The Rebels kicked off the season with a strong 5-2 victory over the Corpus Christi IceRays Wednesday evening. Forward Oliver Band scored two goals in the contest helping power the Rebels’ offense.
The Rebels’ used a strong third period to pull away from the IceRays and win the game. Fueled by two power-play goals, the Rebels were able to capitalize on four Corpus Christi penalties in the final period.
“I thought we came out with a lot of energy and excitement,” said head coach Justin Hale on Wednesday night’s win. “We found a way to win the hockey game”
Wisconsin began its season on Wednesday as well when it fell to the North Iowa Bulls 5-0.
The Windigo, formerly the Minnesota Magicians, finished sixth in the Midwest Division last season before moving to Wisconsin.
Hale was able to record his first regular-season win as head coach of the Rebels following the victory Wednesday night and his team will have a quick turnaround with an afternoon contest on Thursday.
