Rebels Drop Game 1 of NAHL Showcase

Despite 14 shots on goal in the third period and a frantic finish, the Rebels drop the first game of the 13th annual NAHL Showcase here in Blaine, Minnesota.

The Rebels and Blizzard entered the game with no loses. The Blizzard had a 2-0 record by beating the Minot Minotauros in two very close games. The Blizzard scored the first goal of the game at 16:16 of the first period when Kane Durment took a pass from Mikael Hakkarinen.

After a scoreless second period, the Blizzard went up 2-0 when Case Gamelin scored on an assist from Aidan Shepherd and Tyler Frischmon with 2:52 into the third period. The Rebels battled back when Matt Acciaoli scored on a power play goal at the 17:14 mark of the final period. Accaialoi was setup by Givdo Jansons and Dean Balsamo.

The Rebels finished the game with 35 shots on goal while the Blizzards had 24. Rebels goalie Trevor Micucci finished with 22 saves. The Rebels next game is tomorrow at 7:00pm CT against the Minot Minotauros. Click here for the box.
