Rebels Fall in Series Opener to Johnstown

Mar 24, 2023

JOHNSTOWN, PA – The Philadelphia Rebels (23-26-1-1, 48 pts) traveled to central Pennsylvania on Friday night to begin a three-game road series with the Johnstown Tomahawks (24-23-3-1, 52 pts) and fell 2-1 to open the weekend.

Coming into the game, Philadelphia had won four of its last six contests while Johnstown had dropped four straight.

The Rebels controlled play in the first period, outshooting the Tomahawks 12-5. Ultimately, they had nothing to show for it as they headed into the locker room with no score.

The scoring opened in the second period, with Justin Rapp lighting the lamp for the Tomahawks. Just 18 seconds later, Max Marquette (7) brought the Rebels back even, making it 1-1 with seven minutes left in the second.

Heading into the third period tied at one apiece, Philadelphia looked to turn up the offensive pressure, but it was Johnstown getting a late marker on the powerplay and stealing the game.

Philadelphia will look to bounce back on Saturday with another crucial game in the playoff race this season.

The Rebels are back on Johnstown ice on Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. The game is available to stream on HockeyTV.
