DANBURY, Conn. — The Philadelphia Rebels (5-6-0-1) were minutes away from snapping their two-game losing streak, but a late power-play surge by the Danbury Hat Tricks (7-3-1-1) handed them a heartbreaking 3-2 loss Tuesday afternoon at Danbury Ice Arena.
The Rebels carried a 2-0 lead into the third period before the Hat Tricks scored three unanswered goals, including two on the man advantage, to complete the comeback and give Philadelphia its third straight defeat.
Philadelphia opened the scoring in the first period when defenseman Mikey Conlon scored his first goal this campaign off a setup from Jordan Brothers and Charlie Spencer. The Rebels extended their lead midway through the second as forward Johnny Conlin buried his team-leading seventh goal of the season, giving Philadelphia control heading into the final period. Brothers finished the contest with two assists.

Danbury responded early in the third when Parker Deschene scored to cut the deficit to 2-1. The Hat Tricks then capitalized on back-to-back power plays, with Tanner Terranova tying the game and Brendan Boring netting the game-winner just 77 seconds later.
Goaltender Jon Dukaric stood tall for Danbury, turning aside 27 of 29 shots. Philadelphia’s Ilja Nikitins stopped 21 of 24, holding strong through two periods before the Hat Tricks’ late surge.
Special teams proved decisive as Danbury went 2-for-5 on the power play, while Philadelphia was 0-for-4. The Rebels were whistled for 10 penalty minutes, including a costly pair of minors in the third period that shifted momentum.
The Rebels will look to regroup and end their skid as they return to Hollydell Ice Arena later this week for their next matchup against the Rochester Americans on Friday night.
