SEWELL, N.J. — The Philadelphia Rebels saw their four-game winning streak come to an end Saturday night, falling to the New Hampshire Mountain Kings, 5-2, at Hollydell Ice Arena.

Cam Wilson and Oscar Djurberg scored for Philadelphia, while New Hampshire’s Ben Dias and Aidan Petroff each recorded two goals to help the Mountain Kings earn a split of the weekend series.

Following Friday night’s 5-0 shutout victory, the Rebels carried their momentum into the opening period, striking first midway through the frame. A series of passes between Wilson, Justin Vlassis and Djurberg set up Djurberg for a tap-in goal to give Philadelphia a 1-0 advantage.

However, New Hampshire responded with just 49 seconds remaining in the period when Dias converted on a breakaway to even the score at one heading into the first intermission.

The Mountain Kings took control in the second period, beginning with Dias’ second goal of the night to give New Hampshire its first lead of the contest. Petroff followed with a power-play goal to extend the visitors’ advantage to 3-1 entering the final frame.

New Hampshire continued to build its lead early in the third period when Dylan Podergois found the back of the net to make it 4-1.

Philadelphia attempted to mount a comeback late in regulation, with Wilson scoring a power-play goal with six minutes remaining to cut the deficit to two. However, Petroff sealed the victory with his second goal of the night in the final minute, securing the 5-2 win for New Hampshire.

Wilson led the Rebels with a goal and an assist, while Djurberg recorded Philadelphia’s other tally. Vlassis, Timmy Donohue and Mikey Conlon each added an assist.

Both teams finished with 30 shots on goal. Philadelphia converted once on eight power-play opportunities, while New Hampshire finished 1-for-4 with the man advantage.

Rebels goaltender Ben Varsa made 25 saves on 30 shots, while New Hampshire’s Ethan Moser stopped 28 of 30 shots to earn the victory.

The loss snapped Philadelphia’s four-game winning streak as the Rebels concluded their two-game weekend series with a split against the Mountain Kings.
