Rebels Fall to Northeast Generals, 4-1, in Series Opener

CANTON, Mass. — The Philadelphia Rebels fell to the Northeast Generals, 4-1, Friday night at Canton Ice House in the opening game of a two-game weekend series.

Northeast opened the scoring midway through the first period when Owen O’Rear found the back of the net. Kody Moyer doubled the Generals’ lead with 41 seconds left in the opening frame, sending Philadelphia into the first intermission trailing 2-0.

The Rebels responded in the second period when Dylan Moran scored his team-leading fourth goal of the season from the high slot. Justin Vlassis and Marshall Swanson recorded assists on the play, cutting the deficit to one.

Northeast answered four minutes later when Jack Montaldo capitalized on a rebound following a scramble in front of the Philadelphia net, restoring the Generals’ two-goal advantage.

Just over two minutes into the third period, Wyatt Ezman scored on a breakaway to extend Northeast’s lead to 4-1 and close out the scoring.

Mathieu Raymond made 33 saves on 37 shots for Philadelphia, while Northeast goaltender Keagin Wilson stopped 20 of the 21 shots he faced.

Neither team converted on the power play, with Philadelphia finishing 0-for-3 and Northeast going 0-for-2. The Generals outshot the Rebels 37-21, including a 13-4 advantage in the final period.

With the loss, Philadelphia fell to 4-4-0-0, while Northeast improved to 6-0-0-1.

The Rebels and Generals will meet again on Saturday at Canton Ice House to conclude the two-game weekend series.
