SEWELL, N.J. — The Philadelphia Rebels (10-8-1-0) surrendered five third-period goals in a 5-2 loss to the New Jersey Titans (9-5-2-3) on Friday night at Hollydell Ice Arena.

Dylan Moran and Timmy Donohue scored for Philadelphia, while Paxton Couture added an assist. Mathieu Raymond made 19 saves in the loss.

Neither team found the back of the net through the opening 40 minutes, as both goaltenders kept the game scoreless heading into the third period.

New Jersey held a 10-5 advantage in shots during the opening frame, but Raymond turned aside all 10 attempts. The Rebels responded with eight shots in the second period while limiting the Titans to five.

The Titans broke the scoreless tie just eight seconds into the third period on a goal from Joe Pocrnic. However, Philadelphia responded just 14 seconds later when Moran forced a turnover below the goal line and sent a centering pass to Donohue, who buried his fifth goal of the season to tie the game at one.

Pocrnic restored New Jersey’s lead with a power-play goal roughly four minutes later, but the Rebels answered again midway through the period. Moran fired a shot from the high slot past Titans goaltender Simon Krcmar for his team-leading eighth goal of the season, tying the game at two.

The tie lasted just 27 seconds before Ryder O’Neil put New Jersey back in front, 3-2. The Titans added two empty-net goals in the closing minutes to secure the 5-2 victory.

Moran finished with a goal and an assist for Philadelphia. Pocrnic led New Jersey with two goals, while Joshua Kitsis recorded three assists.

Philadelphia finished 0-for-3 on the power play, while New Jersey converted once on four opportunities. The Titans held a 24-22 advantage in shots, with Krcmar making 20 saves in the victory.

The loss marked Philadelphia’s second consecutive defeat after winning three straight games. The Rebels will look to bounce back Saturday night when they travel to Middletown, New Jersey, to conclude their home-and-home series against the Titans.
