The Philadelphia Rebels, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce that forward Andrew Bellant has committed to play NCAA Division 1 Ice Hockey for Michigan Technological University. The Michigan Tech Huskies are members of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association. His commitment begins in the fall of 2018.
Bellant, 20, is currently tied for second on the Rebels with 15 total points (7 goals and 8 assists). The Linden, MI native is the franchise’s all-time leader in the following categories: points (101), goals (47), assists (54), games played (127), points per season (55) and penalty minutes (339). He is tied for first for all-time points per season with 55. He was the Rebels 2016-17 Best Offensive Player.
“I’m really excited to sign with Michigan Tech and move on to play hockey at the next level with a great program” stated Bellant. “I am extremely thankful to my parents and all of my coaches and teammates who have helped me get to where I am going. I would especially like to thank Coach Coombs and the Rebels organization” concluded Bellant.
“Andrew always has wanted to play Division I hockey in Michigan somewhere all along” states Rebels head coach Joe Coombs. “The best part is he got his first choice. Tech is getting a player with an extremely high skill set with a compete level through the roof. We look forward to following his career. We could not be prouder and happier for him” concluded Coombs.
Michigan Tech is in located Houghton, MI. The Huskies are coached by Joe Shawhan, and they currently have an overall record of 7-6-4.
