SEWELL, N.J. — Timmy Donohue and Mikey Conlon scored in the shootout as the Philadelphia Rebels survived a three-goal third-period comeback by the Northeast Generals to earn a 4-3 victory Saturday night at Hollydell Ice Arena.

The victory marked Philadelphia’s third shootout win of the season and gave the Rebels a split of the weekend series.

Philadelphia (6-5-0-0) built a 3-0 lead early in the third period before Northeast (7-1-0-2) scored three unanswered goals in the final 13:11 of regulation to force overtime.

The Rebels opened the scoring midway through the first period when Donohue converted on the power play for his third goal in the last four games.

Just 58 seconds later, Jake Schultz forced a turnover behind the Northeast net and sent a pass out front to Dylan Moran, who buried his team-leading fourth goal of the season to give Philadelphia a 2-0 advantage.

Neither team found the back of the net in the second period, sending the Rebels into the final frame with a two-goal lead.

Philadelphia extended its advantage to 3-0 just 1:51 into the third period when Justin Vlassis forced a turnover behind the Generals’ net and found Broxton Ingle in front. Ingle finished the shorthanded opportunity for his third goal of the season.

Northeast began its comeback with 13:11 remaining in regulation when Kody Moyer scored on the power play to cut the deficit to two.

Logan Poulin added another power-play goal with just under nine minutes remaining, bringing the Generals within one.

The comeback was completed when Northeast goaltender Gavin Weeks made an excellent save, allowing Jack Montaldo to race down the ice on a shorthanded opportunity. Montaldo fired a shot past Philadelphia goaltender Mathieu Raymond to tie the game at 3.

Neither team scored during the five-minute overtime period, sending the contest to a shootout.

After both teams were denied in the opening round, Braydon Hudtloff scored in the second round to give Northeast the advantage. Facing elimination in the third round, Donohue delivered for Philadelphia, beating Weeks to keep the Rebels alive.

Raymond then denied Nate Porter in the fourth round before Conlon scored to put Philadelphia ahead. Raymond stopped Nate Porter on Northeast’s final attempt to secure the victory.

Raymond finished with 29 saves on 32 shots, while Weeks turned aside 34 of 37 for Northeast.

Philadelphia outshot Northeast 37-32 and finished 1-for-7 on the power play. The Generals converted twice on seven opportunities. The victory gave Philadelphia its second win over Northeast in four meetings this season after falling 4-0 in Friday night’s series opener.

The Rebels are back in action on Friday as they battle the Johnstown Tomahawks on the road.
