Jan 7, 2023

SEWELL, NJ- The Philadelphia Rebels (11-16-1-1, 24 pts) will wrap up their series against the Northeast Generals (19-10-3-1, 42 pts) Saturday night at Hollydell Ice Arena.

The Rebels returned to action after nearly three weeks off Friday night and were on the losing end of a 3-2 score against the Generals. The loss ended the Rebels’ five-game point streak.

The Rebels were hot coming into 2023 winning seven of their previous 10 games before the break. The Rebels had to shake off the rust Friday evening and found themselves down 2-0 after the first period.

The team was able to gain some rhythm in the second period and knotted the score up at two heading into the final frame with goals by Greg Spitznagel and Sonny DiNubile.

A late goal by David Andreychuk gave the Generals the lead and handed the Rebels the loss in their return to action in 2023.

Jack Fialkoff stopped 29 of 32 shots in the contest Friday evening for the Rebels.

The Rebels will look to get back on track Saturday evening, going for their first win of 2023.

Saturday’s game can be seen live on HockeyTV at 8 p.m. and admission at Hollydell is free for all fans.
