JOHNSTOWN, PA – The Philadelphia Rebels (23-26-1-1, 48 pts) play the second of three in a weekend series against the Johnstown Tomahawks (24-23-3-1, 52 pts) at 7 p.m. on Saturday night.
In the first game, Philadelphia fell behind in the second, but bounced back quickly. Max Marquette tallied his seventh of the year just 18 seconds after Johnstown opened the scoring.
Jakub Krbecek made 26 saves, allowing less than three goals for the ninth-straight contest.
Ultimately, a late power-play goal from Johnstown gave the Hawks a 2-1 victory.
The Rebels, searching for a bounce-back effort to keep pace in the playoff push, will look to generate more offensively in Saturday’s game. Philadelphia started strong with 11 first-period shots on Friday, but had just 17 the rest of the game after that.
Friday’s game began a stretch for the Rebels playing Johnstown in six of their final 10 regular season games.
The opening contest of the weekend was chippy the entire way and both teams will look to get the edge in Saturday’s game.
Puck-drop on Saturday is scheduled for 7 p.m. and the game can be seen on HockeyTV.
