The Philadelphia Rebels will begin their third season in the North American Hockey season this weekend for a two-game series against the Northeast Generals beginning Friday, September 13 and Saturday, September 14 at the Hollydell Ice Arena. Both games start at 7:30PM.
This will be the first time in team history that it will open up at home. Last year they split on the road against the Rochester Jr. Americans, winning the first game 5 – 4. The team’s inaugural season had an in auspicious start to it by playing its first four games at the League Showcase in Blaine, MN (they went 2 – 2).
Friday night’s game the team and rink will celebrate the lives of former Rebels assistant coach Matt Gaudreau and his brother John. Doors open at 6:30PM. All fans will receive a magnet schedule on Saturday night.
Generals vs. Rebels Overview
The two teams only played each other four times last year with the Rebels winning three of them. The Rebels outscored the Generals 19 – 17 in the four games. Northeast went 4 for 12 (33%) on the powerplay while the Rebels went 2 for 9 (22%). Returner Charles Panchisin led the Rebels in total points (7) and goals (3).

Last season the Generals finished sixth in the East Division, with the same number of points with the Rebels (56) but Northeast had one more win (27) than Philadelphia. In all, the Generals had a 27-31-1-1 record for 56 points, scoring 188 goals and allowing 206.

The Rebels finished in seventh in the East Division posting a 26-30-0-4 record for 56. They scored 175 goals and allowed 204.
The Rebels will have 14 returners from last season: Drew Belleson, Ryan Bunting, Owen Crudale, Brayton Frick, Luke Janviriya, Brock Jones, Luke Minard, Thomas Neu, Jett Otwell, Charles Panchisin, Otto Polakovs, Billy Sheridan, Charlie Spencer, and Ryan Vaites.
Poloakovs will be playing in his 100th NAHL game Friday night.
