SEWELL, NJ – Saturday marks the last Philadelphia Rebels (25-29-2-1, 53 pts) home game of the season as they wrap up their weekend series against the Johnstown Tomahawks (28-24-4-1, 61 pts).
The series started off with a bang as the Rebels were able to pull off the overtime win Thursday night by a score of 2-1 to end their seven-game losing streak. Max Hamstad’s 14th goal of the season won the game in the extra frame.
Philadelphia came away with the win again Friday night by a score of 6-1 after a five-goal third period pushed the game completely out of reach. After getting swept in three games up in Johnstown two weeks ago, the Rebels have the opportunity to deliver the counter-punch and sweep the Tomahawks this time around.
Jakub Krbecek has been stellar in net for the Rebels this weekend recording 31 saves Thursday and then 27 Friday, holding Johnstown to one goal in each game.
Brock Jones is coming off a two-goal game Friday and Tyler Stern will look to stay hot as he has racked up four points in the first two games of the series. Charles Panchisin also scored two goals Friday night. Both were in the third period in the offensive onslaught.
The Rebels head into the Saturday matinee with the opportunity to derail Johnstown’s playoff hopes as they look to claim the fourth and final playoff spot in the East Division.
Saturday’s contest will begin at 3 p.m. as Philadelphia hosts its last home game of the season. Saturday’s game is Fan Appreciation Day where fans can skate with the team after the game and get autographs from the players. More information can be found here.
