The Philadelphia Rebels opened their preseason slate with a 3-1 victory over the New Jersey Titans on Saturday night at Hollydell Ice Arena.
New Jersey struck first in the opening period, with Gavin Lapolla giving the Titans a 1-0 advantage. The Rebels responded in the second and carried the momentum into the final 20 minutes.
Oscar Djurberg evened the game in the second period before Philadelphia broke through twice in the third to secure the win. Mikey Conlon and Cam Wilson each found the back of the net as the Rebels completed the comeback.
Conlon led the way offensively with a goal and two assists, while Dylan Moran recorded three assists. Wilson and Djurberg each added a goal and Justin Vlassis picked up an assist.
Philadelphia outshot New Jersey 21-18 and went 1-for-5 on the power play while holding the Titans to one goal on three opportunities.
The Rebels split the night between Benjamin Varsa and Mathieu Raymond in net. Varsa stopped nine of 10 shots in 31:16 of action before Raymond turned aside all eight shots he faced over the final 28:44.
Philadelphia entered the third period tied at one before scoring twice and limiting New Jersey to six shots over the final frame to close out the 3-1 victory.
The Rebels continue their preseason schedule Thursday, September 3, when they host the Maryland Black Bears at Hollydell Ice Arena.
