Rebels Rout Knights

Oct 3, 2015

Goalie Trevor Micucci was outstanding in his first home game and the team had balanced scoring as seven different players hit the back of the net.

Drew Blackmun took a pass from Brenden Kapcheck and beat Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights goalie Grant Valentine to open the scoring at the 3:50 minute mark of the first period. The Knights Tanner Bennett scored at the 6:42 of the opening period to tie the game at one. Then Gvido Jansons received a nice feed from Frankie Spellman and scored on a powerplay goal at 11:54 mark. Thirteen seconds later Victor Bergstrom beat Valentine to extend the lead to 3-1 and Valentine was sent to the bench and was replaced by Anthony Yamnitsky. Evgeny Yakovlev finished the first period by scoring the Rebels fourth goal with assists from Logan Rivard and Drew Balsamo.

Balsamo and Spellman scored in the second period while newcomer Andrew Bellant scored in the third. Drew Blackmun, Gvido Jansons, Evgeny Yakovlev and Dean Balsamo each had three point nights.

Micucci made the saves he needed to make and some ten bell ones as well. He stopped 34 of 35 shots.
