SEWELL, NJ – The Philadelphia Rebels have named Josh Starr as their Director of Broadcasting/Media Relations.
In his role, Starr will be the Play-By-Play Broadcaster for all Rebels games on HockeyTV. Additionally, he will coordinate the Rebels social media presence and handle all aspects of Media Relations.
Starr, a native of Broomall, PA, Starr held the same role for the Danbury Hat Tricks of the FPHL, NAHL and NA3HL in the 2021-22 season when he provided play-by-play for over 75 total games.
“I’m so excited to move back to Philadelphia and be part of this inaugural Rebels season,” Starr said. “Working with Justin [Hale] and Jim [Mackey] has been amazing so far and I’m looking forward to an amazing year.”
Prior to his role in Danbury, Starr attended Penn State University where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism, a minor in Spanish and a Sports Journalism certificate. At Penn State, Starr was the General Manager of the student-run radio station CommRadio. During his time with CommRadio, Starr was a play-by-play broadcaster, talk-show host, producer and writer.
Starr’s career has led to him calling play-by-play for an NHL Preseason game at Pegula Ice Arena, a Penn State hockey game at Wells Fargo Center and multiple Big Ten Tournament hockey games.
