SEWELL, N.J. — The Philadelphia Rebels announced Monday that the team has traded forward Michael Mathison to the Chippewa Steel in exchange for a future asset.

Mathison appeared in 41 games with the Rebels this season, recording three goals and five assists for eight points. The 19-year-old forward was in his second year with Philadelphia after debuting with the club during the 2024–25 campaign.

A native of Fargo, North Dakota, Mathison developed through the Team North Dakota and Minnesota-based AAA programs before spending two seasons at Northstar Christian Academy. During the 2022–23 season at the 16U AAA level, he posted 47 points in 55 games, followed by a strong 2023–24 season at the 18U AAA level with 44 points in 50 contests.

Mathison joined the Rebels ahead of the 2024–25 NAHL season and provided versatility to Philadelphia’s forward group across parts of two seasons. He totaled five goals and seven assists for 12 points in 75 career games with the Rebels.

The Rebels thank Mathison for his contributions to the organization and wish him the best as he moves forward with Chippewa.

Philadelphia returns to the ice on Friday as it continues its road trip, squaring off against the Northeast Generals.
